It is a finch-billed species of the Hawaiian honeycreeper. It became endangered due to destruction of the trees and accompanying dry forests.
My body of work includes painting with both watercolours and acrylics. I am also a writer. Poetry was my first love creatively, which lead to writing fiction and non-fiction but something magical happened when I picked up a paintbrush. There is an intimacy staring at the lights and shadows connecting with my subjects and translating that onto canvas. The eyes, whether human or animal project their inner light. A painting can capture emotion purely and honestly in a way that words fail to deliver.
